Ken Belanger -Owner KBX Hockey Club
|
10 Years NHL Experience / 16 Years Teaching on ice programs
|
Left-winger Ken Belanger entered the 2001-02 season as a physical component on the improved Los Angeles Kings. The 6'4" grinder played with three teams before heading to the Golden state and was an imposing force wherever he played.
|
Born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario Belanger played with the local Legion team in the NOHA before heading to the OHL. He split his major junior career between the Ottawa 67's and Guelph Storm where he demonstrated an ability to go to the net as well as play rough. In 1992, the burly forward was chosen 153rd overall by the Hartford Whalers at the NHL Entry Draft. He never played for the club and was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs in March 1994.
Belanger played three games for Toronto in 1994-95 then was dispatched to St. John's of the AHL the next season. He was traded to the New York Islanders in January 1996 and was an effective enforcer for the young squad. In November 1998 he was sent to the Boston Bruins for forward Ted Donato. He received more ice time under hard-nosed coaches Pat Burns and Mike Keenan but was not resigned by the Bruins after the 2000-01 season. Belanger was inked to deal by the Kings to help give their skilled players more room in 2001-02.
|
In the fall of 2005 Belanger returned to the Kings line-up and saw action in five games before informing the club of his intentions to retire. Belanger officially announced his retirement on November 14, 2005.

Dan rouillard - Goalie Instructor / program development
Dan has over 16 years coaching experience in a variety of sports and age levels. Dan has coached in various minor hockey organizations across the Province including Windsor, Thunder Bay, and Sault Ste. Marie. Building on his own hockey experience at the junior and University level, Dan has spent the last 8 years focusing directly on training young goaltenders. Dan is the principal goalie trainer at KBX and currently trains over 25 youth goaltenders in the community.
Dan’s personal coaching philosophy is based on his passion for the game and the position of goalie. Every player is unique and brings their own strengths, weaknesses and motivations to the position. The focus of Dan's approach is on the long term development of goaltenders in their technique, tactics, mental approach and satisfaction in learning new skills or enhancing existing skills.
Dan is a very strong believer in an 'academics first' approach to hockey. Dan holds multiple science degrees in Physics and Forestry and works for the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry. In his role as goalie coach for KBX Academy teams, he aspires to give our goaltenders the tools to reach their full potential and play the game at the college and University level.
